This website and blog is by Philip Sheldrake. I'm a Chartered Engineer and marketer. I consult to organisations on how best to wield Internet and Web technologies to streamline operations, develop new products and services, and better understand and engage with stakeholders.

I'm in love with the Internet. I think it will help us solve some of the biggest challenges facing our communities, mankind and the planet, but it also throws up more than a few new challenges. After all, nothing's ever perfect!

Why am I qualified to talk about the Forget Web? Well, I wrote "The Social Web Analytics eBook 2008", which has since been downloaded over 50,000 times. I understand the full power of search and analytics today, and I have a fairly decent understanding of tomorrow's capabilities too.

Analytics is fabulous technology that will increasingly help organisations be more responsive to the needs of all stakeholders; but like all things, balance is essential. We need organisations to know enough but stop short of the point where we threaten our cherished personal liberties and privacy, and the fabric of our societies.
